On average one person in Maine dies from suicide every 39 hours.

Suicide is never the answer. It is a permanent solution to a temporary problem!

The JD Foundation (JDF) was founded by a mother who lost her son to suicide. JDF believes that depression and mental illness is treatable and no family should have to lose a loved one over lack of education.

The JD Foundation focuses on Education and Training, Raising Awareness, Grief Support, and Giving Appropriate Resources to those in Crisis and their family members.

Latest Updates

What the pandemic has meant to us and our work.

In March of 2020, we were not allowed to see people on a one on one basis and also had to postpone any workshops, and groups. We kept in touch with people through phone calls and social media, hoping to give support to those in need.

In May we decided to continue with our support groups, but do hold outside of our office in Abbot. We have also help a couple of Connecting with Nature events , again, where people could effectively distance themselves, and are back seeing people one on one at our office where we are able to keep our required distance of at least 6 ft.

We will resume workshops in September as long as the facility follows CDC guidelines. For more information on where and when our groups or one on one sessions are, please feelfree to call at 207-343-1732
