On average one person in Maine dies from suicide every 39 hours.
Suicide is never the answer. It is a permanent solution to a temporary problem!
Since March of 2020, despite the Coronavirus, the JD Foundation has continued to see clients, via facetime, zoom, or via telephone. We have also traveled to meet someone and had sessions with that person being in their car and myself being in mine. It actually worked and helped!
In May we decided to start having our Suicide Support Groups outside and have held them every other week at the JD Foundation office. We will continue to serve our communities the very best we can using all precautions for safety, such as face masks and distance between us.
Due to the Coronavirus, we were unable to have our two fundraisers that support our missions, being an auction and a Walk to Wake the Silence.
On July 10-12 9-4we will have a yard sale as our annual fundraiser this year. If you have good re-sellable items that you want to part with, please consider donating.

From the Moon's Cache
This bracelet is intended to mirror the colors in the JD foundation logo painting. To me as a survivor it also shows by color the myriad of emotions experienced when a loved one is lost to suicide. The purple and teal beads are added to remember and honor our loved ones. I make these in the memory of my son Henry. The stones included are all real natural gemstones. They are: peridot, citrine, calcite, moonstone, apatite, amethyst, black tourmaline, snowflake obsidian, lapis lazuli, blue lace agate, labradorite, and moss agate.
The JD Foundation (JDF) was founded by a mother who lost her son to suicide. JDF believes that depression and mental illness is treatable and no family should have to lose a loved one over lack of education.
The JD Foundation focuses on Education and Training, Raising Awareness, Grief Support, and Giving Appropriate Resources to those in Crisis and their family members.
